Tashkent Medical Academy (also known as TMA) is a very popular and reputable medical university in Central Asia. It is found in the modern and beautiful capital city of Uzbekistan- Tashkent. The university is a state-owned institution which implies it is operated by the state and is of high standards.
The academy was established in 2005 with a history of more than 100 years in medical education and its origins date back to two ancient medical institutes which were merged. TMA is today accepted by such international organizations as the World Health Organization (WHO) and National Medical Commission (NMC) of India. This is quite significant as it implies that upon graduation, you can take licensing exams such as the FMGE/NExT in India and work in India or other nations.
The university provides 6-year MBBS course (5 years of classroom study and 1 year practical internship) which is offered in full English. That is a great benefit to Indian students since you do not have to study a foreign language such as Russian or Uzbek only to read your medical textbooks.
Among the largest reasons why Indian students prefer the Tashkent Medical Academy is due to the fact that the fees are affordable as compared to the Indian private medical colleges. This is a breakdown of what you should be expecting to pay in 2026. Note that the fees are usually paid in US Dollars and are approximate.
